Marvelous List of CSS Tricks

Smashing Magazine has done it again. They post useful information, resources and links on a regular basis. I ran across their "Mastering CSS: Part 1" article. It features a whole basketful of neat CSS tricks and how-tos for designers familiar with HTML and CSS, and also for more advanced code writers. Most give explanations and exceptions for browsers that may or may not recognize the features. Find the article here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/08/03/mastering-css-styling-design-elements/

Two Well-Designed Music Websites

Skimming lists of well-designed sites, I like to pull out my favorites, book mark 'em and visit them again when I'm brainstorming for new web designs for clients. Two music sites that stand out to me are Mx3 and Champion Sound. Mx3 has a subtle yet rhythmic background, with a main content shape that's off-kilter--but only enough to be interesting, not to distract. Champion Sound has very well-designed buttons, like their Feedback button on the left. Stands out, easy to find but yet isn't intrusive. The yellow is bright but fun, not blaring. They are both well-organized and easy to navigate.

Featured Site Design: Glocal Ventures

Glocal Ventures' website has an organic, rustic tone which makes it feel authentic and hospitable. You feel comfortable on the site; the rich background image works well with the light background of the main content area. The content is organized and layout is clean, making it one of my favorite picks for well-designed sites.
